Review: Acton MBA in Entrepreneurship
Degree Offered: MBA in Entrepreneurship Format: Campus
Program Description: The Acton School of Business, located in Austin, Texas, is a one-year MBA in Entrepreneurship program taught entirely by successful, practicing entrepreneurs. The program is based entirely on experiential learning, featuring intensive 90-hour work weeks where students stand in the shoes of the entrepreneur in over 300 case studies, run real assembly lines and must sell products door to door in order to graduate. The Princeton Review ranks Acton as one of the top 10 MBA “Classroom Experiences” in the country and its teachers among the top 5 MBA faculties in the nation. Business Week’s ‘Best B-Schools’ edition says “Acton puts a premium on learning by doing… Half the length of traditional programs, Acton’s one-year stint radically intensifies the learning experience.” Forbes says “Acton is a radically different MBA program… different from the ground up. To pass, you have to complete real-life assignments.” Accreditation: Association of Colleges of Business School Programs International Student Requirements: All Acton applicants must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English. International applicants who were educated in a language other than English must show a fluency in English by scoring a minimum of 620 on the paper-based TOEFL or a minimum of 260 on the computer-based TOEFL. The Admissions Committee discourages any candidate with scores below these minimums from applying. You may submit TOEFL scores from the past, but they may not be more than 2 years old. If you were educated at an international institution, you must have your transcripts evaluated by an international academic credential verification agency to confirm that your degree is equivalent to a degree from a four-year undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. institution.
